PhoneFactor and LogMeIn

Another week, another new product feature in the free PhoneFactor product! This one actually shipped with PhoneFactor v1.1, but we’re just announcing it now. PhoneFactor now supports securing LogMeIn out of the box! If you’re not familiar with LogMeIn, you must be living under a rock – they’re the biggest remote desktop control service by far. Millions of people use it to access home computers, log into a work desktop, and so on.

PhoneFactor adds security to LogMeIn by allowing all logins to LogMeIn-connected computers to be confirmed through PhoneFactor. To use, simply install LogMeIn and then install PhoneFactor 1.1. During the PhoneFactor wizard, check the applications box and then check the LogMeIn box on the next screen, or if you’ve already run the wizard, select Windows Applications and check LogMeIn. You’ll need to reboot for the setting to take effect.

After that, it works like usual – just start the PhoneFactor agent, add a user for yourself, add your phone number, and you’re done. All of your LogMeIn sessions will now be protected.
