Global Authentication arrives!
Great news! (Well, if you happen to live outside the US and Canada, anyway.) PhoneFactor now offers Global Authentication, with the free service now extended to 36 countries!
Global Authentication requires a new PhoneFactor agent, but fortunately, we just released one! It’s available from www.phonefactor.net, but the various third-party sites like download.com probably won’t have it for a few days.
PhoneFactor Global Authentication is free for lots of calls, but there are some areas of the world that are particularly expensive to call. Because of that, some areas require a pass-through of our telco costs to the organization using PhoneFactor. Additionally, some countries distinguish between calls to mobile phones and calls to land lines. In those cases, the mobile calls can be on the order of 10 times the cost of a land line call, so some countries have free land lines and non-free mobiles. The Global rate sheet has the details, but in general, we’re simply passing through our costs, so the costs should be pretty reasonable.
So, if you’re one of the hundreds of people that have written me asking about non-US support for PhoneFactor, have at it! Again, the Positive Networks technical support team will be providing free support for a limited time while this new service rolls out, so don’t hesitate to ask if you need a hand.
